Are You Prepared?

As you go to holiday gatherings whether it be for work or with family or friends, are you prepared for the inevitable question "So what's new with you?"

And by prepared, I mean ready to answer with a couple of short sentences as to what's up with your writing project.

Are you further along than you thought or further behind?
Is it almost ready to meet the world?
Is it available for sale?

If you do this correctly, you are not being boastful but rather sharing an important part of your life. Besides, even if you believe your friends/family/co-workers won't be interested in/want to buy what you write, you don't know who they know.

Their mom-in-law may love discovering new mystery writers, or their best friend may have just opened a business and is looking for the kind of advice you offer. In addition, you could make connections to help you along in your endeavors as well.

So, what's new with you?

Good Writing & God Bless,

Just a quick note to thank you, Cheryl, for listing my website (www.howtodoitfrugally.com) as one of your favorites. Your writing audience will find the Resources for Writers page (find the link at the top of the home page) especially valueable.

It's a neat blog you have. Glad to know you are helping writers, too. Seems publishing can use it right now!

Best,

People who know you are a writer are always interested in hearing what you're writing about now. I love it when I can talk about a major writing project I'm working on, a newly published book or even a new online, on-demand course I'm offering. So often, however, I'm working with other authors on their projects or I'm spending time promoting my books. This doesn't make for very interesting conversation.

This month, as all work related to writing slows down, I've dusted off my cat stories book manuscript and I've been working on that. It's a nice Christmas gift to me to be able to respond to the question, "What are you working on, now?" with, "I'm writing a book featuring delightful and entertaining stories about cats."

Nice blog.

For those of you who may not know Carolyn & Patricia who commented above, make sure you take some time to get to know them in the coming year.

They have been most helpful to me in my writing & publishing journey, and I look forward to continuing to learn from them.
